           TrailBlazer EXT

"I think the TrailBlazer EXT is the perfect SUV for the versatile sportsman. It has 3 seats with plenty of room for 7 people (and I mean adults), and still has space behind the third seat to handle a lot of gear. This truck comes standard with a 4.2L 275 horsepower dual overhead cam 6 cylinder engine. That's a lot of standard power, but I opted for the optional aluminum 5.3L V-8. It takes maximum trailering weight for the TrailBlazer EXT with 4 wheel drive from 5800 pounds with the 4.2L 6 cylinder engine up to 6700 pounds with this 290 horsepower V-8. It is powerful, and trailering my boat with the TrailBlazer EXT, packed with all my fishing equipment, has never been easier. You don't have to take my word for it, try one for yourself at your local Chevy Dealer. I promise you will be as impressed as I am."- Jeff Mancini

TrailBlazer EXT

This is the midsize SUV with the strong message for prospects: “Discover New Territory.” Available as a five-passenger or extended seven-passenger model, in either two- or four-wheel drive, TrailBlazer offers a variety of people-carrying and cargo-hauling possibilities. Split-folding rear seats allow several cargo configurations for carrying long or bulky items — versatility to suit a multitude of needs. TrailBlazer also has a standard, award-winning Vortec 4200 six-cylinder DOHC engine that serves up 275 horsepower. New for ’03, there’s an optional, aluminum-block, 290-horsepower Vortec 5300 V8 engine(1) for the seven-passenger TrailBlazer EXT models. TrailBlazer EXT 2WD models with the Vortec 4200 can tow up to 5,900 lbs. (7,200 lbs. with the Vortec 5300 V8),(1) and offer 100.2 cu. ft. of cargo space with two people on board and the second-row and third-row seatbacks folded forward. Also new for ’03: TrailBlazer The North Face Edition (interim availability) takes 2WD and 4x4 outdoor adventure as seriously as America’s more adventurous SUV buyers do. The 2003 Chevy TrailBlazer. Built on the heritage of Chevy Trucks: the most dependable, longest-lasting trucks on the road.(3) After TrailBlazer, everything else just seems kind of weak.

1 Maximum trailer ratings are calculated assuming a properly equipped base vehicle plus driver. 2 Dependability based on longevity: 1981–July 2001 full-line light-duty truck company registrations. Excludes other GM divisions.

Strengths

• TrailBlazer EXT has the same “Strength” features as the TrailBlazer.

Security

• TrailBlazer EXT has the same “Security” features as the TrailBlazer.

Power

• Like TrailBlazer, the longer-wheelbase TrailBlazer EXT has a standard Vortec 4200 six-cylinder DOHC engine.

• A new-for-’03 Vortec 5300 V8 engine, available only in TrailBlazer EXT models, is GM’s first Vortec V8 truck engine with an aluminum block. This powerplant capitalizes on the lower mass and superior thermal efficiency of aluminum, improving performance, emissions control and fuel efficiency compared to its proven cast-iron counterpart. The quiet-running Vortec 5300 generates 290 hp at 5200 rpm and 330 lb.-ft. of standard torque at 4000 rpm. And, like the Vortec 4200, this more powerful engine is linked to the Hydra-Matic 4L60-E transmission, a state-of-the-art four-speed offered in many GM trucks and the Chevrolet Corvette.

Versatility

TrailBlazer EXT shares the versatility features listed for TrailBlazer, with these exceptions:

• TrailBlazer EXT 2WD models can tow up to 5,900 lbs.(1), when properly equipped (7,200 lbs. with the optional Vortec 5300 V8). TrailBlazer EXT 4x4 models can tow up to 5,800 lbs.(1), when properly equipped (7,000 lbs. with the optional Vortec 5300 V8).

• TrailBlazer EXT has a nearly flat load floor and 100.2 cu. ft. of cargo space with two people on board and the second-row and third-row seat-backs folded forward. 22 cu. ft. of cargo space with seven people on board.

• A standard third-row seat gives TrailBlazer EXT a seven-adult-passenger seating capacity. This 50/50 split-folding third-row seat is roomy enough for two adults up to 6 ft. 1 in. tall, and easy to access through wide rear side doors. Access is also made easy by 65/35 fold-and-tumble second-row seats, which can be folded down or folded up and out of the way by simply releasing a handle.

• Both the second and third rows of seats have a split-folding design, allowing them to be configured a number of ways, depending on people or cargo needs.

• The second-row seats have four recline positions.

• A factory-installed DVD entertainment system is available for TrailBlazer models (except LS). It’s located in the headliner between the first and second row of seats. The DVD system includes the capability to play audio or video, a seven-inch flip-down monitor, two wireless headphones, a remote control unit and jacks and ports for camcorder playback and video games.
